Better decisions, when complexity gets in the way.

I help organizations turn complex problems and scattered data into clear, confident decisions through data & AI, simulation, and serious games.

What I do

One approach — turning complexity into clear decisions — applied three ways.

Data & AI practice

Put data and AI to work on real decisions: analysis, modeling, and AI tools that produce usable answers, and the literacy and judgment teams need to use them well and responsibly.

Simulation & serious games

Design and facilitate games and simulations that let teams rehearse strategy, align stakeholders, and test decisions before committing real resources.

Decision & research advisory

Structure hard decisions, design studies and evaluations, and turn evidence into action you can defend.

The sector changes; the method doesn't. The same decision-focused toolkit has been applied across education, media and journalism, public-sector programmes, and large international research consortia.

Bill Roungas

About

I'm Dr. Bill Roungas, an Assistant Professor of Media Information Literacy at Panteion University in Athens and a senior researcher and project manager at the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems (ICCS). I hold a PhD in gaming simulations for decision-making from TU Delft and was a postdoctoral researcher at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

For over a decade I've built models, simulations, and data practices that help people decide well when the answer isn't obvious, combining a background in economics, mathematics, and computer science with hands-on design of games and decision tools. I work with organizations as a consultant and advisor, alongside my research and teaching.

How I work

  1. Frame the real decision

Clarify what actually needs deciding, and what "good" looks like.

  2. Build the right instrument

A game, a model, an analysis, or a study, chosen to fit the decision, not the other way around.

  3. Hand back capability

You leave able to decide now, and to repeat the process without me.
